Christmas Creative
Posted on 5 January 2011 | No responses
Exams ate a lot of the time usually reserved for creative christmas present-making, so this year I only had time for a couple. One was this tote-bag, with Harry Potter related internet comments. In addition, I´m going to feature the christmas Natitivity scene I made for my parents, two years ago. It shows the birth of Christ, with a rather extraoridnary and varied attendance. And lastly, made time for peppercake-baking – of which the most original was Mr. Pepper MacRocodile.

First week back from summer vecations, we were challenged to create a “Moment of Awesome”. My group decided to celebrate the moment of “Completing (something)” through our cake of awesome. The chocolate wonder consisted of seven cakes, cut and fitted into seven typographical letters. Fonts used: Helvetica, Arial Black, New Century Gothic, Courier, Adobe Garamond Pro, Minion Pro and Lucilla handwriting. Although we did not win that days “Battle of Awesome”, it was well recieved.

Having been forced by allergies to seek out numerous Health Care stores, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a new arena for brilliant packaging design. A lot of the products feature sunrises, rainbow gradients, comic-sans and other uncreative solutions in expressing the positive organic feel. Here´s a collection of the brands that went avant-garde (or at least tasteful):

Creds to Røtter Frogner for allowing me to take the photoes (and supplying milk/sugar-free chocolate)

1960 summertime

It´s summertime, which this year means work and preperations for next term of Graphic Design. In an effort to improve my illustration skills, I´ve purchased this decadent piece of work:

It´s absolutely brilliant! If you´re a sucker for the glorified Audrey Hepburn-era, this is practically a bible. It includes over 1,000 illustrations from various women´s magazines- from early 1960 to 1969.

Inspired by the classy, yet scetchy look- I decided to depict a scene from our modern lifestyle:
